MEror: Caring for Your Body Is Caring for Your Mind

Those who struggle with mood and anxiety disorders notice a link between their struggles and their personal hygiene. Executive function is the ability to coordinate resources to achieve a goal. Neurodivergent people experience the opposite: executive dysfunction, which impacts one’s ability to plan, initiate, and complete goal-directed activities. Self-care hygiene is one such activity. MEror is a playfully configured mirror designed to simplify and regiment hygienic self-care routines. The different mirrored elements are also storage spaces with recommendations for what goes where, but of course users are free to fit it to their own needs. As a designer, MEror represents a personal journey of discovery for me. It is my hope that it will help ease the pressures associated with mental health struggles and make the action of self-care hygiene more inviting and fun.
